ABOUT LIGITA

Ligita Klintaja, Owner / Pricipal Designer, NCIDQ #32907

Growing up I spent countless of hours and days on my grandmother’s farm in the beautiful and culture-rich country of Latvia, where I was born and raised until 11. I enjoyed wondering, imagining, observing the magnificent colors, sounds and smells of nature that were all around me. I painted and colored princes and princesses. I decorated their dresses with sparkly jewels, opulent laces and colorful feathers. Since very early on it was my dream to make dresses. I had a vivid imagination that allowed me to assign colors to my numbers and paint stories in my mind filled with delicious hues and rich beauty.

My journey started in middle school with making a choice to attend the High School of Fashion Industries in New York City to study fashion design. After graduating I continued on to the Fashion Institute of Technology to study dressmaking on a professional level.

After some time engaging in the world of fashion, an opportunity arose to take on some part-time work with an interior designer, Linda Chase, who was in the Soho area of New York City. Her design talent, colorful interiors and feminine beauty inspired me. At the design studio I felt like I was in my complete element. After all, interiors are so much related to fashion, but with a sense of a sophistication and grounding. I loved this! I made a swift major change to interior design and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2006. I took my time (14 years to be exact) to learn this trade by working with different interior designers in New York City and later, a few design firms in Florida.

Starting and running a successful interior design practice has not only been a dream my entire life, but design is also what I am passionate about. Being able to create spaces that my clients are happy to come home to fulfills this ultimate objective.

Interior Design by Linda Chase

Today I am inspired by nature, its’ stunning colors and textures. I am also inspired by the rich Latvian culture that has accompanied me throughout my life. I believe that the inside of our home is not perfect unless it is in harmony with the outside and considers all of its surroundings.

Colors of nature

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
