ABOUT LIGITA
With a Latvian heritage, art and design have always played a significant role in my upbringing. From an early age we were educated in various forms of art including dance, singing, playing instruments, drawing, crafts, and homemaking, all of which constituted essential elements of our early education. My inspiration to pursue art was greatly influenced by my grandmother, who was also an artist. Additionally, observing my mother construct and decorate her own summer house fostered the appreciation for decorating our homes, although initially I aspired to design dresses. During summers, I spent weeks on my grandmother’s farm in the picturesque countryside. I took pleasure in exploring the gardens, observing the vibrant colors, sounds, and scents of nature that surrounded me. This experience laid a foundation for the appreciation of an exquisite lifestyle.
My design journey started at the Fashion Industries High School in New York City with a major in fashion design and later continued at the Fashion Institute of Technology. An internship with a renowned interior designer while in college illuminated my passion for designing interiors and the creative processes of the profession. Consequently, I transitioned to the interior design major and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006. After more than 14 years of experience collaborating with luxury designers in New York City and Central Florida, Lian Interiors was established. The name, instinctively selected by my then 6-year-old son.
Today I am inspired by nature, its’ stunning colors and textures. An avid traveler and explorer, I am always seeking to collect new experiences, ideas and design inspirations from around the globe. I am also inspired by the rich Latvian culture that has accompanied me throughout my life. I believe that the inside of our home is not perfect unless it is in harmony with the outside and considers all of its surroundings.
My goal is to design homes that bring comfort and delight, and with a profound passion for everything beautiful in our surroundings I strive to share this lifelong ethos with my clients.
